SLUT (R)EVOLUTION

CamerynFinal
From the award-winning creator of Phone Whore and for | play, slut (r)evolution merges memory and manifesto to explore incendiary events from Cameryn Moore’s very sexual life. How did it feel? Staircase Theatre, 27 Dundurn Ave, Hamilton, ON
Tickets: $12/adv, $15/door

Fantasy and fetish of course have a place in slut (r)evolution, but the show is firmly rooted in the physical sensations and emotional complications of going after and getting the sex you want. Please note: slut (r)evolution contains strong language and a lot of sexual content, and is for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.April13th 8pm

During the 2008 SummerWorks Theatre Festival, it won the NOW Audience Choice Award and was sold-out for most of the run. Since then it has been performed at various bars, street corners and people’s homes with equal success. It was also a great success at the 2009 Toronto Fringe Festival.

Francophone band Amélie et Les Singes Bleus makes the kind of music that has made a bride and groom leave their own wedding reception to come next door and dance!  They have established themselves as a true crowd-pleaser in the Toronto Music scene. Their music, tinted with festive energy and unique arrangements, captivates and takes us back to a 1920’s speakeasy.

We encourage the audience to dress the part in the 1920s and join us and the band to step back in time to our vintage inspired speakeasy ambiance! The best costume wins a prize. Of course a password is required and will be revealed upon purchase of the tickets…

TRENT SEVERN
w/ Lindy Vopnfjord
$20 cover | 9pm doors

Meet Trent Severn. Not the waterway system in Southern Ontario, but Trent Severn – the Canadiana band whose songs are fueled by the folklore of Ontario; whose lyrics pay tribute to Canadian legends.

Trent Severn is a trio from Stratford, Ontario comprised of indie songster Emm Gryner, the multi-talented Dayna Manning and violin whiz/songbird Laura C. Bates. When listening to their self-titled 10-track debut album, the first infuence that comes to mind is Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. There is no lead singer in Trent Severn. There are no doubled tracks. There is a guitar or banjo (Manning), a bass and stomp box (Gryner), a fiddle, and a shaker here and there. You can hear the watermarks of greats like Spirit of The West, Simon and Garfunkel, Tom Petty, Joni Mitchell, Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard. The sound of this band is CANADIANA based in Folk, Roots and Old Country.

EGG ZEPPELIN RETURNS TO THE STAIRCASE TO FILM THEIR TV PILOT DEMO!

EggZepp_StaircaseWebHeader_March9

Egg Zeppelin returns to The Staircase Theatre on Saturday, March 9, 2013 for more MUSIC, BACON and COMEDY! In cooperation with the Broadcast Television program at MOHAWK COLLEGE, this installment of the show is also being FILMED as a live television pilot demo!

EGG ZEPPELIN with host
DEREK FORGIE (MTV Live) and
KAYLA LORETTE (That’s So Weird, Ron James Show, Death Comes to Town)
and special musical guest DREW SMITH (Dr. EW)

Saturday, MARCH 9 @ 8pm
Staircase Theatre – 27 Dundurn Avenue, HAMILTON
Tix: $10 available at the venue

SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST DREW SMITH
Dr. Ew is the new musical persona of Drew Smith, regular guest of Toronto pop bands The Elwins and former frontman of The Bicycles. The “dark pop” of Dr Ew’s debut record ‘Gadzooks’ has an ambitious, orchestral aura about it… comparisons to Brian Wilson and Elliot Smith have been made. His endearing, gentle cheeriness will win you over.  http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/Doctor-Ew

KAYLA LORETTE has been nominated for several Canadian Comedy Awards, the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund and a Gemini for her performance in YTV’s That’s So Weird.  Her  work in television includes The Ron James Show, the Kids in the Hall series Death Comes to Town, and That’s So Weird, which recently won a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Television Ensemble.

Egg Zeppelin is a 2-person, long-form improvisational comedy show. From audience suggestions, the Canadian-Comedy Award nominated comedy duo of Kris Siddiqi (Second City) and Marcel St. Pierre (Bad Dog Theatre Company) create a spontaneous hour in the lives of Dude and Man, the owner-operators of a dilapidated greasy spoon in a non-specific, small town halfway between ‘here’ and ‘there’. Every installment features a special musical guest and BACON cooked live on stage! IT’S A COMPLETELY MADE UP SITCOM/TALK/VARIETY SHOW, EVERY TIME!
