Sharktopus- Half Shark, Half Octopus All Killer Tues Mar 1st 8pm $5

Half-Shark, Half-Octopus – All Killer!

An eight-tentacled nightmare hybrid of shark and octopus, “S-11” was created by genetic scientist Nathan Sands (Eric Roberts) as the U.S. Navy’s next super-weapon. But when its control implants are damaged during a training experiment off the Mexican coast, the beast escapes to Puerto Vallarta to sample the local fare — bikini babes, jet-skiers, and spring-breakers. With the ocean terror now out of control and seemingly invincible, a ragtag group – comprised of a hotshot mercenary, an investigative reporter, and Sand’s biomechanical engineer daughter – have come together to stop the unholy beast from turning a seaside tourist resort into the ultimate human buffet.

But it won’t be easy: it possesses problem-solving intelligence, attacks without mercy or warning – it even has the ability to walk on land. Not to mention a decided affinity to snack on bungee jumpers…

Heckling is encouraged and pelting the host with soft vegetation is permitted, but please no spitting. And remember fiends, it’s all about execution !!

Here’s what two lovely audience members wrote us last year:

  • To the Cast & Crew of “How We First Met”,I can’t thank you enough for one of the most enjoyable Valentine’s evenings of my life.  My wife and I of 15 years were priviledged enough to be chosen, and delighted and honored by your improv cast’s vignettes based upon our own recollections.  The skits were truly side splittingly funny and heartwarming.Crazy as it sounds, it made us feel like we fell in love all over again!  Very, very special. A thousand thank you’s for an evening we will always remember and treasure.
  • Wanted to write and thank you for the best Valentine’s ever.  My husband and I came to the Sunday evening Improv of how we first met.  I haven’t laughed so hard in years and years.  It was done soooo well with lots of warmth that we still feel the glow.  I had never heard of the Staircase before and now that we have we are definitely spreading the word. We look forward to enjoying more events.

Quarter to Nine Productions presents: David Mamet’s OLEANNA

David Mamet’s Oleanna @ Staircase Theatre Jan28-Feb5 2011

Quarter to Nine Productions is proud to present it’s first major production in the intimate theatre venue of The Staircase Theatre

Written in the heyday of political correctness and the culture wars of the early 90’s, OLEANNA is Pulitzer Prize winner  DAVID MAMET’s most controversial drama.  Regarded today as one of the most provocative dramas of our time, this gripping play, directed by Quarter to Nine’s Shari Vandermolen, and starring Hamilton’s Jennifer Graham and theatre stalwart Al French, has electrifying dialogue, blazing emotion and an ending that will leave you talking.  In this riveting drama, a college professor and his female student become embroiled in a war of words that takes a dangerous turn. As their serene campus transforms into a battleground for justice, Mamet’s explosive masterpiece dares you to take a side . . . if you can

Since its debut in May 1992, David Mamet’s Oleanna, has been the object of more widespread public rage, debate, celebration, and reproval than even the most extreme of the performance pieces he condemns.  Oleanna has been widely acclaimed for its treatment of issues in American society of the 1990s, such as gender problems and relationships, sexual harassment, political correctness, and the manipulation of power.

As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed into a gigantic cockroach”. The Metamorphosis tells the story of Gregor’s sudden, and unaccountable transformation into a giant cockroach and his family’s inability to see the situation beyond it being their own misfortune. Instead of extending their compassion towards Gregor’s plight, his family’s callousness drives Gregor to live out his days as a pest in the dark corners of his room.
